I've always had an eye for capturing the moment. My parents recognized my creativity and fostered it with art classes at the De Young Museum. When I was 12, my parents gave me another medium to experiment with - film. I then spent summers across the way at the Academy of Science being inspired and taught by local photographers, who challenged us to view photography as an art and not a science. Under their guidance and my mother's artistic eye, I quickly traded my first camera - a Kodak Instamatic 110 - for a Canon AE-1 SLR. In 2001, I began dabbling with digital photography with another Kodak, the DC4800. I finally retired my Canon AE-1 in 2004, and now shoot digital exclusively with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR. I enjoy the freedom that comes with the digital medium particularly the ability to experiment with angles, motion and lighting and get immediate feedback. With each shot, I strive to tell a story, and whenever possible work with existing light rather than flash to capture candids.
